Monte’s connection to TENTMAKERS began early, when, as a high school student, he was deeply shaped by a TENTMAKERS-trained youth director who came to his hometown church. That impact led him to serve as a TENTMAKERS-trained youth director himself, and in 1988, he officially joined the TENTMAKERS staff. Over the next several years, Monte faithfully served in a variety of leadership roles, helping strengthen programs and support the growth of the ministry.

In 1996, Monte transitioned into the business world, building an impressive career in the field of human resources across several companies. His experience in organizational development, management, and people-first leadership made him a trusted voice in both ministry and corporate environments. Throughout those years, Monte and his wife, Lisa, remained closely connected to TENTMAKERS and Wilderness North—continuing to invest their time, support, and hearts in the mission. As Monte often says, “Once you’ve experienced the transformational nature of TENTMAKERS’ Christ-centered training, you can’t help but continue to live with a ‘life on mission’ mindset.”

Monte served as Interim Executive Director during a significant season in TENTMAKERS' history, providing steady leadership through a time of organizational transition. Drawing on decades of ministry experience, organizational insight, and executive leadership, he continues to invest in the mission of TENTMAKERS as a trainer, equipping and encouraging others to become faithful, Christ-centered leaders. He is known for his servant's heart, relational wisdom, steady leadership, and passion for making disciples.

And while Monte shares the same last name as TENTMAKERS founder Dick Amundson, the two are not related—just brothers in Christ who shared a deep love for the mission of making disciples.
