Coaching Wildernes40 "Tent-makers"
COACHING
FORWARD ACTION is the follow up service for Tentmakers' graduates. It is a ministry helping graduates of Tentmakers training courses to apply training concepts so they and their organizations operate more effectively and efficiently.
What is COACHING?
Coaching is the central format of FORWARD ACTION. Coaching is a dynamic partnership between the coach and the person being coached, helping that person move from where they are toward where they desire to be. The focus of the coaching partnership is defined and shaped by the person being coached with the help of the coach, acknowledging and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Coaching could involve clarifying values and priorities, analyzing the current situation, developing vision, setting goals, identifying plans, accountability, creating options, pursuing life balance, enhancing relationships, making decisions or life management, to name a few. It could assit a Tentmakers' graduate with their Personal Life Plan, Ministry Management Plan or other Plans of Action developed by the graduate.
Coaching is designed for people who are future oriented, basically emotionally healthy, and ready, willing and able to make changes in their personal and professional lives.
So, how does COACHING work?
Coaching sessions will be on the telephone one or more times per month at prescheduled times for 30 - 45 minutes. When and if geographically feasible, coaching sessions may be in person.
The coach and the person being coached agree to an initial six-month agreement. The agreement is renewable in three month increments thereafter. The coach is also available to the person being coached via e-mail any time during the agreement period.
To initiate and set the direction for the coaching partnership, a Groundwork Session is completed at the end of a training course (i.e. Young Leaders W40) or prior to the first coaching session. As a way to prepare both the coach and the person being coached for each session. a Preparation Sheet is completed by the person being coached. This helps to maximize each coaching session and ensure it is responsive to the needs or agenda of the person being coached.
Who are the Coaches?
FORWARD ACTION Coaches are all Tentmakers' Training instructors who have had additional training specific to coaching. The coach training is based on Tentmakers' Training principles augmented by concepts from the Institute for Life Coach Training, Christian Coaching by Dr. Gary Collins and Transformational Coaching by Dr. Joseph Umidi. With the instructor training we receive as Tentmakers instructors, we are well prepared to do this; requiring only a small amount of additional training.
